What You Get To Do:
- Own the Seremoni Grade Standard: Define and refine each step of the protocol — catch method, bleeding, chilling, robotic processing, traceability, logistics — and ensure every piece contributes to superior quality and shelf life
- Design and Document Field Protocols: Create detailed, field-ready SOPs that can be deployed on boats, at processors, and in distribution centers to maintain consistency and rigor
- Track the Full Lifecycle of a Fish: Implement and manage systems that track every fish from catch to customer, including temperature logging, imaging, processing timestamps, and chain-of-custody data
- Run Experiments in the Field: Conduct real-world validation of protocols on boats and at processors — e.g., chilling curves, rigor timing, histamine thresholds, texture testing — to ensure we're delivering best-in-class freshness
- Act as Internal Auditor: Monitor compliance across sites and partners, identify deviations from Seremoni Grade, and implement corrective actions and training as needed. You will be partnered with our Director of Processing who is an expert specifically for the processing that occurs at processing facilities
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work with hardware/software teams to build tools that automate and record Seremoni Grade metrics, and with brand/marketing to articulate what Seremoni Grade means to customers
- Scale the Standard: As we expand, design training, onboarding, and certification systems for fishermen, processors, and vendors to ensure Seremoni Grade can scale without compromise
What You Will Need:
- Degree in Food Science or related discipline; bbonus for experience in seafood handling or cold-chain logistics
- 3–8 years of experience in food systems, process engineering, or R&D roles involving strict quality standards
- A systems thinker who is obsessive about process, documentation, and continuous improvement
- Comfortable working on boats, in cold processing environments, and in high-variation operations
- Strong communicator who can bridge the worlds of science, operations, and brand
- Experience with quality assurance, temperature tracking, or shelf life testing is a major plus
- Familiarity with robotic or automated food processing systems is a plus but not required
- Willingness to travel 10–20% to fishing ports, processors, and partners
Other Things To Know:
This role reports directly to the Founder and CEO of Shinkei Systems. This is not a food safety or compliance role. This is a food systems role, built for someone who wants to define and protect a new category of food quality.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end development, documentation, and implementation of the Seremoni Grade standard — from the moment a fish is caught, through on-vessel handling, robotic processing via Poseidon, chilling and transport, to its final delivery to chefs, retailers, and end customers.
You will act as both the process engineer and the steward of the brand's integrity — working at the intersection of food science, operations, engineering, and storytelling. You'll report directly to the CEO and work closely with R&D, processing partners, software, and supply chain teams.
Pay Range: $90K–$150K

What You Get To Do:
- As the Executive Assistant to the CEO and Co-Founder, you'll be the air traffic controller for all administrative and logistical demands on the CEO's time and bandwidth. You will be his right-hand with complete discretion and command over his schedule and inbox. Responsibilities span from calendar management to logistics and communications to event planning.
Administrative - Time & Bandwidth Management
- Proactively manage and optimize the CEO’s complex calendar and inbox - owning scheduling with internal and external stakeholders
- Various administrative tasks (e.g., personal errands, expense reports, reimbursement management, purchasing supplies, etc.)
- Monitor deadlines and ensure priorities are addressed appropriately
Planning - Meetings & Events
- Plan and execute on all aspects of meeting logistics: transportation, time management, meeting materials, technology setup, room bookings, etc.
- Organize team offsites, board meetings, office visits, speaking engagements, and other special events
- Manage end-to-end domestic and international travel itineraries (including flights, accommodations, meals, transportation, and contingency plans)
Communications - Project Management & Execution
- Triage inbound requests with clarity and consistency, ensuring timely responses while protecting the CEO’s time.
- Partner with the Chief of Staff to support cross-functional initiatives and strategic priorities
- Manage and execute the CEO’s personal and professional to-dos, while maintaining confidentiality across and between domains
What You Will Need:
- 2+ years of experience in a high-level Executive Assistant role, ideally supporting a founder or C-suite leader in a startup, tech, or fast-growth environment
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Reachable by CEO at all times; occasionally supporting him during off-hours and weekends
- Works 5 days per week onsite in El Segundo, CA with limited travel requirements
Other Things To Know:
You’ll excel in this role if you are passionate about our mission, are predisposed to getting things done right and quickly and believe that direct experience matters less than an innate bias to (pro)action and desire to take complete ownership over projects. Although you will have a partner in the Chief of Staff, you will ultimately be a team of 1 and are excited by the independence required to operate in an ambiguous environment with constantly shifting priorities. You create order in disorder and do not shy away from a challenge. With direct access to the CEO and Co-Founder, you'll have the opportunity to make an extraordinary, outsized impact on the future of the company, growing with us as we enter our next stage of growth.
