Join Shinkei as a Head of People
El Segundo, CA • Full Time • $160K-$200K
What You Get To Do:
- Build and scale a high-performing, engaged, and growing team: Ensure every person at Shinkei feels supported, developed, and aligned with our mission
- Lead and coach a small People team: Oversee and hire for all aspects of People Operations - recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, HR / employee relations, performance and growth, culture and engagement, and general people strategy
- Recruitment and hiring strategy: Partner with leadership to define hiring plans, including the hiring of a dedicated recruiter and closing critical roles
- Compensation, payroll, and benefits: Lead employee compensation strategy, including salary benchmarking, benefits program management, equity grants in collaboration with finance and leadership, and running accurate / timely payroll
- Headcount planning: Work with leadership on strategic headcount models, budgets, and hiring timelines
- Performance management: Develop an effective employee performance review and promotion process; equip managers with tools and coaching for effective feedback
- Culture, engagement, and events: Plan program and team events that reinforce our culture and values while being a culture carrier in day-to-day operations
- Talent development and retention: Create paths for mobility, training opportunities, and development frameworks that keep top talent engaged
- Compliance and HR functions: Implement and manage HR systems, policies, and end-to-end on/offboarding that supports a healthy and compliant workplace
What You Will Need:
- 6-10 years of People / HR experience, including experience as the first or early People hire at a high-growth startup
- Proven ability to design and implement core People programs (recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and promotions)
- Experience working closely with leadership on headcount planning and organizational design
- Hands-on builder who thrives in ambiguity and attaches data to all decisions
- Balanced communicator to assess company and employee perspectives with integrity
