9 Month Progress Update
Over the last 9 months, Shinkei has seen tremendous growth and development. Our engineering team has expanded from just 2 engineers to a dynamic group of 10, each bringing expertise from industries such as aerospace, defense, automotive, and medical technologies (SpaceX, Relativity Space, Anduril, Noah Medical, ONE to name a few). This diversity of experience has been critical as we tackle the unique challenges presented by the marine environment.
We’ve also upgraded our workspace, moving into an almost 7,000 sq. ft. office in El Segundo, which provides ample room for innovation, testing, and collaboration. Our biggest milestone? The design, construction, testing, and deployment of an entirely new robotics system—now operational on partner fishing vessels. Poseidon has multiple approved (+more pending) patents on both the hardware and software sides.
The Technology: Poseidon
At the heart of our innovation is Poseidon, a groundbreaking tool that automates the Ike Jime process for a variety of fish species and sizes directly on fishing vessels. By ensuring precise and efficient fish harvesting, Poseidon enables fishermen to increase revenue without expanding their quota. The system maximizes the value of each catch by reducing waste and delivering consistently high-quality fish through optimal brain and bleed techniques.
Poseidon’s cutting-edge design combines AI, motor control, and clean-sheet mechanism design, making it an advanced tool built to thrive in harsh marine conditions. Leveraging our team's deep experience in corrosion resistance, thermal management, and structural and electrical durability, we’ve created a system that's robust and reliable even under the toughest conditions at sea.
We’re proud to be pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the fishing industry, an industry ripe for technological advancement. As we look ahead, we are excited to continue revolutionizing the way fishermen work and to bring even more innovative solutions to market. Poseidon is just the start - our entry point into this industry.
